The new route ties in with the opening of an World Fair Expo taking place in Yeosu from May 12~Aug. 12. The Expo involves people from around the world, who will engage in discussions about protecting the ocean for the future survival of the world. During this four month period, the Beetle operates 3 round trips per week on the Hakata\/Yeosu route, with JR Kyushu expecting a total of around 8,000 passengers. The one way trip takes around 3 hours and 45 minutes, and costs around \u00a513,000. The first ship to embark on the route from Hakata Port on Saturday was carrying 120 passengers, and was farewelled by \u201cSuni\u201d and \u201cYoni\u201d- mascots of the Expo.
