The City plans to build a new \u201ccultural hub\u201d on a nearby site located in Suzaki Park south of the Prefectural Art Museum. The new facility, which would include a 2,000-seat main hall and a smaller 800-seat event space, is estimated to cost \u00a516 billion, while demolition of the old building will cost \u00a54 billion. The City aims to use a private finance initiative (PFI) for the project, and hopes to solicit open bids in 2018. If all goes according to plan, construction would begin in 2020 with completion slated for fiscal 2023.
