Many foreign cruise ship passengers alight at the Waterfront, and the various convention centers attract numerous visitors. This May, the City will open a new cruise ship terminal. It is also working to attract new companies to the area. Over the next 10 years, the City will encourage the private sector to rebuild 30 buildings, aiming to boost total floor area by 1.7 times and increase jobs by 2.4 times. Upon completion, an economic ripple effect of \u00a5850 billion is expected. New buses with wood-filled interiors designed by Eiji Mitooka, the mastermind behind the Kyushu Shinkansen and Seven Stars in Kyushu, will begin operating in April. The buses will now stop at Saitozaki Station, making for a more convenient connection to JR Kashii Station. Upcoming events in Shikanoshima include the Yama-home Festival (4\/15) and the Otaishi-sama-mairi (4\/29). If you registered your dog in the City, you will receive a postcard about vaccinations in early April. Shots are available at any veterinary clinic. Vaccination drives will also be held at public halls in April and May (Registration: \u00a53,000, vaccination: \u00a53,050). For times and places, contact the Eastern Fukuoka Animal Welfare &#038; Management Center (092-691-0131).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fukuoka Castle Cherry Blossom Festival<\/strong><br \/>\nThe annual cherry blossom festival will be held in Maizuru Park, one of the city\u2019s prime cherry blossom areas, Mar. 26 (Thu) ~ Apr. 5 (Sun). The highlight of the festival is the daily light-up of the trees and castle ramparts (18:00~22:00). Visitors can also enjoy the night scenery from atop the castle keep, the ruins of Otaka Yashiki or Tamon Turret (\u00a5300 for one venue; \u00a5800 for all three). For FREE!<\/strong><br \/>\nTulip Road<br \/>\nColorful tulips are set to brighten up 2.5 km of streets between Hakata and Tenjin (Hakata Station \u2014 Ekimae-dori \u2014 Canal City \u2014 Hakata Riverain \u2014 Seiryu Park \u2014 Tenjin Chuo Park \u2014 City Hall \u2014 Kego Park).
