Highlights include new displays on the Kan no Wa no Na no Kokuo Gold Seal and Hakata Gion Yamakasa. The gold seal exhibit gives visitors a closer look at the national treasure and provides a variety of information pertaining to the seal. The Yamakasa exhibit features an actual kakiyama racing float. This is the last major competition before the Winter Olympics in Sochi (Russia) in February and will feature Japan&#8217;s Olympic-bound figure skaters. Enjoying fresh, charcoal-roasted oysters at an oyster hut is one of Fukuoka&#8217;s fall traditions. Huts open in the fall and run until late March. The Karatomari Ebisu Oyster Hut in Kota (Nishi-ku) will open at 10:00 on Nov. 1. Some invasive species threaten the existing ecosystem by eating or otherwise damaging indigenous plants and animals. To protect Fukuoka&#8217;s biodiversity, remember three simple rules: 1) Don&#8217;t introduce potentially harmful non-native species, 2) Don&#8217;t abandon exotic pets or plants, and 3) Don&#8217;t let invasive species spread to other regions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fukuoka\/Tenjin Time Travel: Bringing 150 Years of Tenjin to Life<\/strong><br \/>\nKyushu Asahi Broadcasting, under the supervision of the Fukuoka City Museum, has digitized historical documents and photos provided by local companies, museums and photographers and combined them with computer graphics to create a video record of the past 150 years of Tenjin.
