If the inspection goes off without a hitch, the power company will receive green light to officially resume commercial operations. Although the reactor is already producing and transmitting power, it is doing so on a temporary basis. On Aug. 11 Sendai\u2019s No. 1 reactor was the first reactor to go back online since the new regulations were drawn up after the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear incident. Sendai\u2019s restart marked the the first time in two years that a nuclear power plant was operational in Japan.
