Nagasaki City-based Green Tea World Holdings have announced that they will open a green tea cafe in California within the year, with 50 more shops to be set up throughout the country over a ten year period. They plan to appeal to the famously caffeine-fuelled nation by offering matcha espressos, served up on gorgeous Hasami-yaki (traditional pottery made in Nagasaki). The venture has drawn a lot of attention, with Maetaku, a company with 30 years of experience selling green tea in the US, 12 other companies and two private investors backing it.
