Amendments to the Fukuoka City Yatai Ordinance mandating that operators use the City\u2019s utilities for a fee have been proposed to the City Assembly, which is currently in session. \u201cWe want to work with the operators to create a vibrant yatai culture,\u201d said a City official. The move is part of the City\u2019s efforts to standardize yatai operations amid claims of foul odors and people dumping wastewater in street gutters. City Hall will spend \u00a543 million to build the utility network and plans to charge yatai operators \u00a51,200 a month for  water and sewage and \u00a5800 a month for electricity.
