Name stamp certificates are required to purchase real estate and automobiles, but transgender persons have protested the inclusion of gender on official certificates. The Ward Administration Section decided that gender was no longer necessary on name stamp certificates &#8220;from the standpoint of respect for human rights&#8221;. After receiving complaints from transgender persons, the various sections of City Hall and the Ward Offices have examined application forms to decide where gender check boxes could be eliminated since last October.
