As of this March, the population of Itoshima was reported to have dropped to under 100,000 permanent residents. With this \u201cTrial Stay\u201d program, the city aims to promote the Itoshima lifestyle and attract more residents. Selected applicants can spend a 2~3 week stay in Itoshima\u2019s Shikaka, Nijo\/Keya, or Shima areas for only \u00a5500 rent + utilities (*offset by \u00a530,000 deposit in the end). There are five periods open for the trial stays (7\/19~8\/3, 8\/9~31, 9\/6~28, 10\/4~26, 11\/1~23) and ten positions available.
