BOY TAKES REAL GUN TO SCHOOL, TEACHER MISFIRES IT ::: Reporting by Nishinippon Shimbun has revealed that a male student at a public junior high school in Kasuya-gun took a real pistol to school and a male teacher mistakenly fired it in the teacher\u2019s lounge. No one was injured, and both the student and the teacher said they thought it was a model gun. The student\u2019s father, a 41-year old restaurant operator, was arrested on suspicion of violating the Firearms and Swords Control Act. The police filed charges against the man in mid-September for allegedly possessing a revolver and live ammunition, which had been stored in a warehouse near his home. The boy said he found the gun, which he thought was a model, in the warehouse and put it in his room. He later took it to school. According to police and the Board of Education, the male teacher warned the boy about bringing toys to class on the morning of Nov. 20. When he searched the boy\u2019s belongings, he found the gun and the bullets, which he thought were replicas, and put them in a desk drawer in the teacher\u2019s lounge. At 5PM on Nov. 23, the teacher loaded the gun, aimed it at a chair in the teacher\u2019s lounge and fired it. The bullet struck the leg of the chair, and he told the Vice Principal \u201cthe bullet fired and made a noise\u201d, after which the gun was stored in a safe. At 9AM on Nov. 25, after receiving a briefing, the Principal reported the incident to the Kasuya Police Station. Only then did the school officials find out the gun was real.
