The town of Taragi, Kumamoto has launched a project with Kumamoto University in an effort to rejuvenate the genkai shuraku (a village in which more than half of the population is over age 65) of Tsukigi. The town will build a new social services facility to create jobs and establish a support group comprised of local townspeople and stakeholders. On Apr. 1 Taragi Town Hall began accepting applications for a part-time \u201cvillage supporter\u201d to live in Tsukigi. The village supporter\u2019s primary task is to entice people to relocate to the Tsukigi. A monthly salary of up to \u00a5400,000 yen will be provided, and the town hall will provide a house and a vehicle free of charge.
