Dontaku is Japan\u2019s largest citizens\u2019 festival with a history of over 800 years. It will be held during Golden Week on May 3~4 this year. The parade proceeds down Meiji-dori, between Gofukumachi and ACROS Fukuoka. Nishitetsu is offering the special opportunity for children to ride on the Flower Cars and Open Top Bus during the parade! Details as follows. <\/p>\n

1. Ride Flower Cars at Dontaku<\/strong>
\nThe parades of gorgeously decorated flower cars form an integral part of the Dontaku festivities. Nishitetsu have made 18 spots available to ride a Flower Car at Dontaku for free! Application is limited to students in Elementary School (3rd~6th grade) only. To apply, send a postcard to Nishitetsu, including the following information: applicant\u2019s name, address, age, grade, school name, tel. and preferred day. <\/p>\n

2. Ride Open Top Bus at Dontaku<\/strong>
\nThe Open Top Bus will run FREE 20 minute tours during the festival. Spaces are limited to 90 child\/parent pairs, comprised of one child (between 4 years old ~ elementary school age), and one parent. To apply, send a postcard to Nishitetsu by April 22 (Mon.) including the following information: participating child\u2019s name and age, parent\u2019s name, address, contact number and preferred day. Winners will be contacted by telephone. <\/p>\n

\nThe deadline to apply for both applications is April. 22 (Mon.) Send application postcards to (1-11-17 Tenjin, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, 810-8570, Nishinihon Tetsudo Kabushikigaisya Kohoshitsu) with title \u201cFlower Car Parade\u201d or \u201cOpen Top Bus Dontaku Parade\u201d. <\/p>\n
