This is the 14th year the project has run since it started in Okinawa in 2003, and over the years McDonald\u2019s have given out a total 7,930,000 whistles. Donald McDonald (the Japanese McDonald\u2019s mascot) has also hosted crime prevention classes, and certain branches have a \u201cChildren\u2019s 110 House\u201d &#8211; children who feel under threat can go to these branches where members of staff will look after them and contact the police.
