The cities continue in \u201cbuilding relationships with regional cities that are in charge of urban infrastructure in order to support local companies\u2019 overseas development\u201d and the two cities entered into memorandum to strengthening cooperation in May 2014. Plans call for the expanding infrastructure exports with support from the Japanese government. Fukuoka City which is experienced in \u201cdeveloping a compact and comfortable city\u201d aims to contribute its knowledge and experience to solve urban issues and create some impact in Asia as well as supporting local companies\u2019 overseas development through business opportunities such as involvement in from ODA work projects involving the government and private sector. The following are key areas of focus:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sending specialists for strengthening waterworks management ability<\/li>\n<li>Accepting trainees for sewerage system maintenance management<\/li>\n<li>Working towards waste landfill method \u201cthe Fukuoka method\u201d construction etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Readers might also be interested to know that three persons from Myanmar have received awards in the past from the \u201cFukuoka Prize\u201d (founded in 1990) and managed by Fukuoka City and Yokatopia Foundation.
