Itoshima\u2019s coastline is gorgeous but getting around without a car is tough, and not everybody is a Tour de France cyclist! To the rescue is a service offering electric-assisted bicycles. They are easy to control and have a range of about 40 kilometers. You still need to pedal, but you\u2019ll never break a sweat. We took one out for a 7-hour spin. While having the electric assist is a luxury, be warned that these bikes are quite small. If you are over 180 cm tall or more, you might feel cramped. Taller people might want to rent the Cross Bikes available at the same counter for the same rates as the electric-assisted ones.<\/p>\n

With a cool ocean breeze, deep blue sea and plenty of cafes to pop into, the ride along Futamigaura Beach is a must!<\/p>\n

Sakurai Shrine<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Situated amongst tall trees, Sakurai Shrine (est. 1632) is not only a quiet and charming place to take a break, but also considered one of Itoshima\u2019s most spiritual places. Meotoiwa, the large rocks linked by a large rope on Futamigaura Beach<\/strong> (3 km away) – are a part of this shrine.<\/p>\n
