Fukuoka\u2019s coffee scene has a new arrival from Singapore.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2012, specialty coffee roaster NYLON COFFEE<\/strong> has chosen Fukuoka\u2019s Takasago neighborhood for its first overseas location. Following a soft opening in September, the coffee bar officially opened its doors on October 30, 2026.<\/p>\n

From a Singapore neighborhood to Fukuoka\u2019s Takasago<\/h4>\n

NYLON COFFEE\u2019s story began in Everton Park, a quiet residential neighborhood in Singapore lined with public housing blocks. In 2012, husband-and-wife founders Dennis Tang and Jia Min Lee opened a small coffee bar with an adjoining roastery.<\/p>\n

The name NYLON combines NY (New York) and LON (London), two cities where the couple previously lived and worked.<\/p>\n

From the beginning, their philosophy has been straightforward: build lasting relationships with coffee producers, roast beans to bring out their individual character, and serve excellent coffee in a welcoming setting. Just as important is creating a place where people can gather, connect, and enjoy a conversation over a good cup.<\/p>\n

For its first venture abroad, NYLON has settled in Takasago, a neighborhood where homes and offices mingle with traditional shops and a growing collection of independent businesses. Away from the bustle of Tenjin, it\u2019s a fitting setting for a coffee bar built around the pleasures of slowing down and connecting with people.<\/p>\n

Coffee with a story behind every cup<\/h4>\n

At NYLON COFFEE, the journey from farm to cup is more than a slogan. The founders travel to coffee-growing regions, meet producers, and develop direct relationships with the people behind the beans.<\/p>\n

Their roasting philosophy emphasizes natural sweetness, balance, and clarity, allowing the character of each coffee to shine through. Beans are sourced according to harvest seasons, giving customers an opportunity to explore different origins and flavor profiles throughout the year.<\/p>\n

The Fukuoka bar serves beans roasted at NYLON\u2019s Singapore roastery and flown to Japan, bringing its established approach to sourcing and roasting directly to local coffee drinkers.<\/p>\n

And there\u2019s a little taste of Singapore on the food menu, too.<\/p>\n

\"Banana<\/figure>\n

Kaya toast<\/strong>, a Singaporean favorite featuring sweet, rich jam made from coconut milk and eggs, makes a natural partner for coffee. There\u2019s also house-made pandan chiffon cake<\/strong>, featuring the distinctive fragrance of pandan, an aromatic tropical plant widely used in Southeast Asian desserts. Both offer a delicious introduction to Singapore\u2019s cafe culture without leaving Fukuoka.<\/p>\n

The people connecting Singapore and Fukuoka<\/h4>\n

Leading the launch of the Fukuoka location is Alexia Hsu, a former barista at NYLON COFFEE in Singapore who later relocated to Fukuoka.<\/p>\n

The space itself was designed by Fukuoka-based URBANIX, with an emphasis on encouraging people to gather and interact. It reflects the community-minded spirit of NYLON\u2019s original Singapore location.<\/p>\n

On the coffee menu, choices range from espresso and a milk-based white to a chilled brew featuring Pacamara beans and a filter coffee made with the prized Geisha variety.<\/p>\n

For anyone interested in exploring coffee beyond the usual latte or espresso, there\u2019s plenty to discover. Even coffees from the same growing region can reveal remarkably different aromas and flavors depending on the variety, processing method, and brewing technique.<\/p>\n

One coffee with a particularly interesting backstory is Las Palmas<\/strong>, from Los Pirineos, a family-run estate on the slopes of El Salvador\u2019s Tecapa volcano. With more than 125 years of family history, Los Pirineos is a producer with whom NYLON COFFEE has maintained a long-standing relationship, illustrating its commitment to the people and places behind its coffee.<\/p>\n

From Singapore to Takasago, NYLON COFFEE brings more than carefully sourced beans and expertly prepared brews. It introduces a little Singaporean flavor to the neighborhood and a new place for people to meet, linger, and discover something good in their cup.<\/p>\n
