Now, the basics<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trains<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are three systems \u201cNishitetsu\u201d, \u201cSubway\u201d, and \u201cJR\u201d. The subway links the two city centers, Tenjin and Hakata to the Airport. Take \u201cNishitetsu\u201d to visit sites such as Dazaifu or Yanagawa. Take \u201cJR\u201d to travel outside Fukuoka to Nagasaki, Beppu and the new Kyushu Shinkansen to Kagoshima.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fukuoka-now.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/visitor3.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Subway platform\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fukuoka-now.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/visitor3.jpg?resize=640%2C427\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Buses<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Go almost anywhere aboard Nishitetsu Bus in Fukuoka City! Rates vary by distance, but are just \u00a5100 within the \u00a5100 Bus area (see p. 5 ~ 6 yellow area) including Hakata Sta., Sumiyoshi, Yakuineki-mae, Tenjin and Gofukumachi. Combined with Showa Bus, you can go as far as Itoshima from Hakata Station.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Riding the Bus<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fukuoka-now.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/fn148-tourist-Nishitetsu-bus1.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"fn148 tourist Nishitetsu bus\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fukuoka-now.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/fn148-tourist-Nishitetsu-bus1-300x284.jpg?resize=300%2C284\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"284\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Check the destination on the front and side displays of the bus\u2019s exeterior. Board via the center doors.<\/p>\n<p>2. If paying cash, take a ticket as you board. If you have a nimoca IC card wave it over the sensor, ticket not required.<\/p>\n<p>3. Bus stops and fees are displayed on the monitor next to a driver. The fee appears under the ticket number.<\/p>\n<p>3. Fees are displayed on the monitor above the driver. Match your ticket number to get your fee.<\/p>\n<p>4. Push the stop button to alert the driver that you want to get off at the next stop.<\/p>\n<p>5. Drop the fee and your ticket into the box next to the driver and get off from the front door. If you need change, drop cash into the box next to the driver. When you are using nimoca, wave your card above the sensor.<\/p>\n<p>Board using the middle doors and get off using the front door. They accept \u00a510 and \u00a5100 coins and prepaid cards .<br \/>\nRoaming services for mobile phones are available via Docomo, SoftBank and AU.
