Ms. Machiko Hasegawa, author of the anime, was said to have conceived the idea for the Sazae-san series whilst in Fukuoka\u2019s Sawara-ku. In addition to the naming of the municipal road, Sawara-ku plans to erect a nameplate for Hasegawa in May- to mark the 10 year anniversary of her death, and to advertise the overall community as \u201cthe birthplace of Sazae-san\u201d.
