The Sony Store<\/a> in Tenjin is open! This is the first Sony Store in Kyushu, and only the fourth in the country (after Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya). Fukuoka Now attended the opening event and here\u2019s what we learned.<\/p>\n

The Sony Store is a technophile\u2019s dream. The store offers high-res audio devices, ultra high-definition (4K) televisions and a large range of single-lens reflex cameras (their main product). Some of the products on display here have never before been displayed in Kyushu! And what\u2019s more, they\u2019re offering some special Hakata-ori<\/em> products, including PC sleeves, ACC general purpose pouch and single-lens camera straps. All of these can be found on the first floor, while the second floors features event spaces and theaters. <\/p>\n

To celebrate the store\u2019s opening, Sony are hosting photography, music and video events throughout April. <\/p>\n

Budding photographers might be interested in the exhibition of Chukyo Ozawa\u2019s photos (Apr. 1 to Apr. 8), and the in-store interviews with the man himself (Apr. 2, three sessions). Sakura<\/em> draw out everyone\u2019s inner shutterbug, so from Apr. 1 to Apr. 8 you can take photos of a sakura<\/em> tree placed in the store using the very latest cameras. On Apr. 3, photographer Kentaro Fukuda will share his top tips. From Apr. 9 to Apr. 22, the best 15 photos out of those submitted by local photographers will be on display in the store. Chukyo Ozawa himself will give a public commentary and critique on Apr. 9 and Apr. 10. <\/p>\n

Prefer your art in soundwave-form? Check out the special event Mora (online music and video store) is presenting on Apr. 1, at which you can try listening to top songs by local artists on the latest high-res audio devices.<\/p>\n

And from Apr. 1 to Apr. 3, products scheduled to go on sale later in 2016 will be displayed for the first time – go try the new PlayStation VR headset (virtual reality headset, scheduled for release October 2016).<\/p>\n

And if your Japanese is \u201cchotto\u2026<\/em>\u201d, then never fear! They have staff members from the Netherlands, China, and Taiwan, and even multilingual staff members (one can speak 5 languages)!<\/p>\n

Sony Store Fukuoka Tenjin officially opens on Apr. 1 in the new Nishitetsu Tenjin Class building
\n(1-19-22 Imaizumi). On opening day it will open from 10:00, but usual operating hours are 12:00 to 20:00. <\/p>\n
