Japan Pizza Festival

START: Mar 28, 2019 END: Mar 31, 2019

Attention pizza lovers! This will be one of the largest Napoletana pizza events held in Japan! Produced in collaboration with the prestigious “Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana” (True Neapolitan Pizza Association) you can be assured of authenticity! Twenty pizza-making experts from around Japan will use Italian-made wood-fired ovens as well as a vintage truck with a built-in oven to bake piping hot pizzas in front of JR Hakata Station. Most ingredients will be imported directly from Italy, including flour and Pontecorvo mozzarella cheese. This handmade cheese has a history over 150 years and is made without preservatives, additives, or food coloring. Much effort has been made to ensure an authentic Napoli experience. Even the eco-friendly firewood has been brought over from Italy! In addition to pizza, a selection of local delicacies from all over Italy will be served, including charcoal-grilled Chianina beef (limit 100 servings per day), five varieties of ham, whole roasted pig, and Sardinian sweets. Sample a range of alcoholic beverages including wine from each of Italy’s 20 provinces and Peroni Nastro Azzurro beer. San Pellegrino sparkling fruit beverages and coffee from the well-established Rome-based Bon Cafe are just some of the other drinks on the menu. Saluti! Also, keep an eye out for the famous Italian pizza-maker Fazio Gaetano, known as the “Hand of God.” You’ll recognize him when you see him! The entire area around JR Hakata Station will be abuzz with excitement. Enjoy a slice of the good life, Italian-style!
