Have yourself a merry Tenjin Christmas!

‘Twas the penultimate night of November, when all through Tenjin,
everyone was hurrying towards the Christmas market opening.
The decorations are placed on the Germanic stalls with care,
and there is a magical canopy of fairy-lights, hanging in the air.

There are one-hundred Father Christmas’ all other the place,
You can get a festive photo, next to Santa, with a jolly look on his face.
Now, look up at the displays and before your eyes shall appear,
lots of festive figures, and even a sleigh with eight tiny reindeer!

Out amongst the stalls, there are all sorts of wonders,
from baubles and earrings to reindeer rugs and nutcrackers!
Be sure to seek out the Mount Fuji spinning top,
Or, if it takes your fancy, you can go to the Russian-doll shop.

If hungry you can try all sorts, from Stollen to Bratwurst – there’s an array of festive foods,
Maybe chips with melted Swiss Raclette will be what takes your mood.
Or perhaps you’ll eat a Hungarian Kürtőskalác, a doughy sweet treat,
If not that, then surely a leg of turkey – the quintessential Christmas meat.

Music and performances on the stage will delight your ears,
meanwhile, you can sit in an igloo (!) and drink all of your beers.
Make sure to take your picture with the market’s Instagram frame,
and certainly, purchase a commemorative mug, which is now much-famed.

So, don’t miss out on the cheer beneath the Christmas lights,
It’s a festive market for all and all a very good-night.
