Araki Daimyo Honten

Tucked away on the second floor of a funky old building full of eateries and bars in Daimyo is Araki, whose calling card is wine paired with tempura. Tempura is a seemingly simple Japanese dish. Just coat food with batter and fry. But this simplicity preserves the original flavor of the ingredients. At Araki, you can enjoy seasonal tempura—be it vegetables in the summer, grains in the fall or edible roots in winter—with different kinds of wine. Just ask for a recommendation. Daimyo may be a young part of town, but the atmosphere at Araki is laid back and mature.

Menu (tax incl.): Table charge ¥300, wine/glass ¥900 ~ ¥1,400, champagne/glass ¥1,300 ~ ¥1,400, bottle of wine ¥4,500~, seasonal vegetable tempura course (appetizer + 8 kinds of tempura + 2 dishes) ¥2,500, seasonal seafood tempura course (reservations required) ¥3,800, tempura a la carte ¥100 ~ ¥400

*Foreign language menu: English / Credit cards accepted / Reservations recommended / No smoking inside
