A new standing bar opened this March right next to Akasaka Station, and with a bright pink neon sign, you can’t miss it! When you first order, the staff will hand you a card with a local subway station name on it, which they will then call out for subsequent orders—so be sure to remember yours! With a menu of small dishes, local sake and Kyushu shochu, Neo Megusta makes for a good first (or second? or third?) stop on a Fukuoka-style pub crawl. For some local flavor, try the bite-sized seared mentaiko or smoked salted mackerel. Opens early, so stop by if you have the afternoon off, you won’t be the only one there.
