Fukuoka Art Museum Reopening Exhibition – Report

Finally, after a multi-year long renovation, Fukuoka Art Museum (in Ohori Park) will reopen to the public tomorrow (March 21) and to celebrate they are holding an exhibition of about 250 pieces from their collection of 40 years (16,000 pieces!) It’s like a greatest-hits affair with works by Salvador Dali, Joan Miro, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat and many more on the walls. Not to mention displays of Japanese masters and local masters. In addition, London-based artist Yinka Shonibare CBE has his first solo exhibition in Japan, and it’s brilliant! Don’t miss his piece “Woman Shooting Cherry Blossoms” – perfectly timed for the season.
