Additional Underground Bicycle Parking in Tenjin

Fukuoka City has opened an underground parking area for bicycles located in the basement level of city hall. The parking area, called Tenjin Fureai-dori Churinjo, opened on June 9 and can accommodate 375 bicycles. It is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to create a society that is less dependent on automobiles. The parking area also connects to Tenjin Chikagai and the passageway underneath the city hall. It is open from 6 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. Leaving your bicycle in the parking space for one day costs ¥100 (the initial three hours are free). Approximately 260 ground level bicycle parking spots surrounding the city hall will be abolished by the end of this month. Source: Mainichi Shimbun, 6/10/2018
