Amazon Japan has launched a new cashless payment system. Customers who have their details registered with Amazon Pay will be able to settle bills inside stores by using a QR code reader on their smartphone. The service will be available at a number of clothing stores and restaurants in Fukuoka City. In recent years, QR code-based transactions have become increasingly popular in Japan with Rakuten and other major companies making similar forms of technology available to their customer base.
