Real estate agency Joyful Corporation and developer Daikyo plan to build a hotel on a site inside the Yanagibashi Market. They expect to begin work on the 12-story, 240-room facility in the first half of 2020. The 1,200 m2 site is located just north of the market entrance along Sumiyoshi-dori Ave. The companies decided to build in the area because they anticipate increased demand for both business clients and tourists as the market has become a popular stop for foreign visitors and is relatively close to both Tenjin and Hakata.
