Drone Delivery Service to be Tested in Fukuoka

Two government ministries announced on August 27 that a drone delivery service will be tested in Fukuoka City, Minamisoma (Fukushima), Chichibu (Saitama), Hakuba (Nagano), and Wake (Okayama). The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the Ministry of Environment plan to examine the efficiency of delivery services in depopulated areas. Participating regions will receive ¥3 million in financial support. Local governments and businesses will work together to establish flight paths for the drones, which will carry customer packages through the air and on to their doorstep. The aim is to carry out the experiment by the end of the year. Source: Sankei Shimbun, 8/28/2018
