The number of foreign visitors who entered Kyushu in the first half of the year reached 2,543,247, a 9.9% increase year-on-year and the highest number on record for the first half of a calendar year. At 1.248 million, Koreans accounted for the majority of foreign visitors, up 15.6% year-on-year. Due to more flights connecting Hong Kong to Fukuoka and Kumamoto, Hong Kongers ranked fourth with a dramatic 31.1% increase to 144,000 visitors.
