Fukuoka Racks Up ¥2.3 Billion Losses From Heavy Rains

Fukuoka Prefecture estimated that losses caused by the heavy rainfall on July 21 exceeded ¥2.3 billion. Water filled 325 hectares of rice fields and other farm fields in areas such as Kurume City and Yanagawa City, severely damaging crops. The prefecture intends to open a counter to deal with such damages and will budget ¥370 million in financial aid for the restoration of greenhouses and farming machines.
