A company spearheaded by the Kyushu Economic Federation (Kyukeiren) began exporting Kagoshima-farmed buri (yellowtail) to Shandong Province, China on September 11. This represents the first time that the Kyushu Agricultural and Marine Products Company has exported goods to mainland China. The company, which was established in 2015, has been exporting local agricultural produce, such as strawberries, apples, and sweet potatoes, to various parts of Asia, including Hong Kong. They signed a memorandum of understanding with the commercial affairs section of Shandong Province and Weihai City earlier this year in an effort to promote trade. The Kagoshima yellowtail will be sold to local supermarkets and restaurants via a wholesaler based in Weihai City. Source: Yomiuri Shimbun, 9/12/2018
