Kitakyushu City’s water treatment system has been adopted by a purification plant in Haiphong, Vietnam. The project is expected to cost approximately ¥2 billion. Kitakyushu is working on developing technology to support water and sewage services overseas. The U-BCF technology uses microorganisms to safely remove ammonia and organic matter from tap water. This is the second time that Kitakyushu has exported this water purification technology to Haiphong within the last five years. Source: Yomiuri Shimbun, 8/16/2018
