The final day of Kyushu Basho ended on November 25 with Komusubi Takakeisho winning his first championship. At just 22 years of age, the Kansai-born wrestler has become the 6th youngest champion since the current 6-tournament system was introduced in 1958. Takakeisho won the Junior Sumo World Championships in 2014 and entered his first sumo stable at the age of 18. Despite the abrupt retirement of the former stablemaster Takanohana, Takakeisho achieved his first win at the 26th tournament from his debut tournament, which is the fourth quickest since 1958.
