Kyushu Electric Enters Thailand’s Electrical Power Market

Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc. announced their entrance into the electricity market in Thailand on May 14. The company has invested in an electricity producing company, Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCO,) in Thailand by purchasing stock of a group company belonging to Mitsubishi Shoji Corporation. EGCO was established in 1992 and has 27 plants in six countries. Kyuden acquired 6% of EGCO’s stock, valued at ¥30 billion. A director will join EGCO to participate in its management as well as to provide know-how on electricity transmission and geothermal power generation.
