Scores of CEFR will be a new requirement for applicants on entrance exams for Kyushu University from 2021. The university announced in late December that all applicants for the university’s general selection process would be required to hold a CEFR score of A2 level or above. CEFR, the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is an international standard for describing language abilities of listening, writing and speaking and is widely used in Europe. With the renewal of the National Center Test in 2021 in Japan, universities and colleges are considering how they might change their evaluation system. Source: Kyushu University, 12/30/2018
