Fukuoka should brace itself for a cold winter this year, according to the latest three and six month forecasts released by the Fukuoka District Meteorological Observatory. Low pressure around the Aleutian Islands, near the Russia-Alaska border, means that Northern Kyushu may experience below average temperatures, wintry Westerly winds and snow in the upcoming months. Don’t reach for the hot sake just yet though, as October is set to be mostly sunny and warm – bar the threat of a typhoon that is currently creeping its way up through the Southern islands, that is. Our advice? It’s probably best to keep your umbrella to hand this weekend, just in case. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun 9/26
