LDP Assembly Members Cut Support for Ropeway

A proposal to cut the urban ropeway preparation budget from the Fukuoka City’s draft budget was passed with majority approval at the city’s assembly on Mar. 12. The original plan included a ¥50 million pre-research budget for the ropeway construction as proposed by Mayor Takashima. However, a group of LDP assembly members expressed concerns about the plan. It remains to be seen if the mayor will seek reconsideration of the matter or not. This might be the first time in over thirty years for the original budget plan by the executive to be amended before being fixed. Mayor Takashima will make a comment on this after the assembly closes on Mar. 13. Source: Sankei News, 3/13/2019
