Miyoshi Real Estate Co., Ltd. has formed a business partnership with Airbnb. The move will see the Fukuoka-based company enter the accommodation industry. Miyoshi plans to make empty rooms in their rental properties available for temporary lodging and convert some of their apartment buildings into hotels. The company is currently looking at constructing or redeveloping at least of four properties in the Hakata area in order to establish their portfolio of accommodation facilities. A five-story hotel close to the Port of Hakata is scheduled to open this October. Tourists will be able to make reservations using Airbnb. Miyoshi plan to have 50 rooms available in their premises for short-term use within the year. They are looking to increase this number to 500 by the end of 2020. Source: Sankei Shimbun, 9/11/2018
