Nishitetsu to Test Platform Railings at Nishitetsu Fukuoka Station

Nishitetsu will test safety railings on the platform of their Omuta Line at Nishitetsu Fukuoka Station beginning on Feb. 28. Five ropes stretched across safety poles will slide downwards as the train door opens then upwards after the door closes. Nishitetsu says the system can function even for trains with different numbers of cars and also for train cars with varying numbers of doors. The railings will be set up on one side of platform No. 2 as a test. The scheduled trial period is one year, and Nishitetsu is planning to start installing the railings to stations in FY 2021 after assessing the effectiveness. Source: Nishitetsu, 2/14/2019
