The former Ogata Residence in Okawa City has been registered as one of Fukuoka Prefecture’s tangible cultural properties on Mar. 7. The house is considered to have been built in the mid-19th century by the Ogata Family, whose members served as the feudal retainers and medical doctors of the Yanagawa Clan. The one-story building (partially two stories) is located in the Kobo area of Okawa City, where traditional wooden houses lived by the towners during the Edo period still line the streets. The total number of the prefecture’s cultural properties has now become 690. Source: Asahi Shimbun, 3/8/2019
