QTnet to Test Facial Recognition AI Automated Shop System

QTnet, a group company of Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc. will set up an automated shop in Kyushu Institute of Technology Tobata Campus in April 2019. This will be a testing project for the company’s AI technologies that can be applied to retail businesses without staff. Customers who enter or exit the shop will be immediately recognized by their faces or by IC cards. To purchase, people can place the items on the cashier board and pay the calculated price that shows up on the screen with an IC card. The company envisions that these technologies will help shops in isolated areas or those at event venues. Source: QTnet, 1/10/2019
