A trial run was carried on the 2.4 km stretch of track that runs between Teruoka Station and Hita Station (Kyudai Main Line) on July 12 to confirm if the line was ready to re-open after last year’s heavy rainfall in Northern Kyushu caused suspensions to the service. Reconstruction work on the Kagetsu-gawa Bashi-ryo has been completed after the bridge was destroyed by the extreme weather conditions, and will be back in use from July 14. This will be first time in nearly a year that the entire line will be in operation. The replacement bus service will no longer be available. The news also means that the tourist train Yufuin no Mori, which has been running on an alternative track due to the suspensions, can now return to its original route.
