Small-scale Satellite Built in Kyushu

A small-scale Earth observation satellite called Tenko has been built in Kyushu. Kyushu Institute of Technology graduate school professor Keiichi Okuyama led the project, which started last July. Four companies based in Oita Prefecture, including Eto Manufacturing (Oita), Nishijima Seiki (Saiki), Denken (Yufu), and KTS (Kitsuki) participated in the development. The 23 kg tetradecahedron-shaped satellite has been handed over to the JAXA Tsukuba Space Center in Ibaraki Prefecture. It will then be delivered to the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture and await its launch. The satellite will be used to collect data to help understand the relationship between solar activity and radiation. Source: Oita Godo Shimbun, 8/30/2018
