Star Wars Yamakasa

Star Wars Yamakasa” with the motif of the movie “Star Wars” appears in Hakata Gion Yamakasa which starts on July 1. The latest movie of the series, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” will be released in December. “Star Wars Yamakasa” is 13 meters in height and will be decorated with dolls of C3-PO, R2-D2, BB-8, Kylo Ren, and Rey, supervised by Lucasfilm. It will be placed in Kamikawabata shopping center from July 1 to 14 and will be running through the streets of Hakata in a main event called “Oiyama-narashi” on the 12th and the 15th. One of the Yamakasa runners, Naoyuki Hayato, said, “This is the first Hakata Gion Yamakasa event after the registration of the festival as a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage.
