On August 27, it was officially announced that Thailand has agreed to receive fruit from Yame City (Fukuoka Prefecture) from November this year, after the quality of the produce was verified. The country currently accepts citrus fruits from some selected areas in Shizuoka and Mie Prefectures, and they have a set of quarantine checks which the goods must pass before being allowed to enter the country. The Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries asked Thailand to also consider accepting citrus fruits grown in parts of Yame.
