The Lively Hakata Fukuoka

If you haven’t heard of Japanese real-estate developer Global Agents, well, that won’t be the case for long! On July 26 they threw a pre-open party to launch their first hotel in Fukuoka, and the very first of their new line of lifestyle hotels, “The Lively.” Located in Nakasu, Fukuoka’s entertainment district, and steps from the Nakasu-Kawabata Subway Station, The Lively boasts 224 rooms, banquet facilities, co-working space restaurants, and a lounge & bar with a blend of urban street art aesthetics.

So what’s new? While most hotels are focused on their overnight guests, at The Lively, locals are equally welcome to enjoy the public facilities. Walk-in from the street and instead of a standard reception desk, you arrive at the spacious and chic lobby bar. The 100-seat “Grill & Fritto” restaurant serving a fusion of modern Italian and Japanese is also located on the ground floor and without doors, open to the public.

Designed to create opportunities to socialize, The Lively offers much more than a place to sleep. On the second floor, get some work done in the casual co-working place complete with a billiards table for that break you’ve earned. Guests and hotel staff alike enjoy curated background music. At The Lively, music is a priority – never an afterthought. We’re looking forward to the weekend and monthly DJ events.

Voila, it is a hotel, and they offer a variety of furnished rooms fitted with the latest features and comforts. Choose from a standard double, a superior twin, a standard queen, or the playful 41 sq m Lively Loft replete with two huge bunk beds! However, the most unique thing is on the third floor – The Millennials – a hotel within a hotel.

The Millennials is a fresh take and re-think of the capsule hotel concept. Despite measuring just three sq m each, these Smart-Pods are super comfortable thanks in part to the ability for guests to control mattress incline, air-flow, and lighting all from an app running on a provided iPod Touch. And for an extra ¥500 per night, you can book a pod with a built-in projector to watch Netflix and more on a wall-to-wall widescreen! There’s plenty of privacy and the communal washrooms, showers, and toilets are spacious, high-tech and spotless. Best of all, you can book one of these 114 Smart-Pods for as little as ¥4,000 per night! Even at that very modest rate, The Millennials guests are welcome to enjoy all the public facilities and services of The Lively including the Happy Hour from 17:30~18:00 with free draft beer. That’s an amazing value!

If you’re planning a visit to Fukuoka, and you’re looking for more than just a place to sleep, or if you live here and feel like being social, enjoying a light meal, or just chilling out with good tunes – then you really should check out The Lively.
