World’s First Harry Potter Cafe Opens in Fukuoka

A Harry Potter-themed cafe opens today (November 9) in Hakata and Shinjuku. The Taito Corporation have partnered up with Warner Bros. Japan to establish “Harry Potter & Fantastic Beasts Wizarding World Cafe” in to celebrate the release of ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’, which hits cinemas nationwide on November 23. The film is the second in the Fantastic Beasts series, and the tenth overall in the franchise. The store makes use of the latest digital technology so that visitors can feel immersed in the world of Harry Potter! Make sure to check out the original food, drinks, and merchandise that are on sale inside the premises. The cafe is located on the 5th floor of Canal City Hakata and will be open until January 31, 2019. Reservations for the mini-theater area inside the cafe can now be made online. Inside customers will be able to pick-up a special gift.

Fukuoka Now attended a pre-open event for media. Here are some exclusive first-ever photos of the new cafe and some of the menu items. Before entering the cafe, visitors pass through a shop filled with official Harry Potter goods. Then, the cafe is split into two sections. The main section (18 seats) is decorated with art and objects from the movies. The other section is a mini-theater with a table for nine persons where patrons can enjoy food and drinks that have appeared in the films while scenes from Harry Potter films are projected onto the walls. This is the first official Harry Potter cafe in the world! Potterheads, don’t miss it!
