Party Time!

Fukuoka Now has the entire first floor of the über-cool “With The Style” venue reserved for Fukuoka’s biggest Valentine’s Day party. Last year’s event attracted over 750 people so this is NOT-to-be-missed! Besides good drinks, tasty snacks and DJ tunes we’ve got a special Valentine event planned with fabulous lucky draw prizes. More details about that in the Feb. issue of Fukuoka Now and here online. Tickets, as usual, are just 2,500yen including two drinks – buy yours online now to avoid lining up.

Dinner & Party Ticket

New this year – reserve a seat for a special Valentine’s Dinner in “With The Style’s” main dining room overlooking the pool and bar area. Dinner & Party tickets are available only in advance for 5,000yen and include admission and one drink ticket on top of the full course dinner.

Q: What and where is “With The Style”?
A: A very spiffy high-end resort-style boutique hotel located just a 5 minute walk south of Yodobashi Camera (Hakata Station). Check out their website: http://www.withthestyle.com

Q: Are advance tickets available?
A: Yes! http://nl-feb-09.eventbrite.com for English.

Q: Is the Dinner & Party ticket a good deal?
A: The dinner is 3,800yen and the party alone is 2,500yen. The combo gives you both for 5,000yen with one drink ticket – so, yes, – it’s a good deal!

Q: What’s the advantage of buying a ticket in advance?
A: Advance ticket holders are handled at a special reception desk and are whisked speedily into the party.

Q: How much are drinks after the first 2 included ones?
A: Prices vary, but cocktails are 700yen, and bottled beer and Zima are just 500yen

Q: What’s the dress code?
A: It’s a pretty fancy venue, so you’ll want to put on your best party threads.

Q: Is there a cloakroom?
A: Yes and it is free!

Q: What is the smoking policy?
A: Indoors no-smoking, but there is lots of outdoor patio space with gas heaters.

Q: Is food available?
A: Yes, at bar counters and servers will be walking around with finger food for sale.

Q: What’s the ratio of Japanese and foreign guests?
A: It varies party to party, but as usually 40% foreigners and 60% Japanese.

Q: Is re-entry to the party allowed?
A: Yes – your hand will be (gently) stamped when you enter. Show it and you can get back in.

Q: Do I need to speak English/Japanese?
A: No – just relax, have a few drinks and you’ll understand everything you need to know.

Q: Is it stuffy, hot and smoky?
A: Thanks to plenty of space and plenty of patios, no, it’s not.

Q: Is it ok to pass out leaflets or other promotional materials?
A: No, it is not ok.

Q: Will there be any long, boring speeches?
A: No!

Q: If I attend will I meet new people?
A: We hope so, and at the next Now Lounge event we have a special Valentine’s Day game which will break the ice for many!
