Aljazeera – Sudan
Caterer/Kebab shop owner
In Japan: 10 years

When Sana came to Fukuoka she missed practicing two of her favorites: her profession as a veterinarian, and hanging out with friends over a dish with homeland flavor. While she put the first on hold, she solved the second: she started a Sudanese and Middle-Eastern catering enterprise! Entertaining at home, Sana’s Japanese friends went wild for her food: “I found that the best way to introduce a culture is through its food.” Now Sana’s company Kebabooz caters parties and events, and also runs a “kebab car” which you’ll see sometimes at Hawks Town on game days. Sana imports spices directly from Sudan for an authentic taste. Kebabooz combines the Sudanese home-made taste with a Japanese aesthetic. Sana hopes to open a restaurant in Fukuoka in the near future; meanwhile contact her for a quotation for a whole party service, or just a container of hummus, falafel and fresh pita.
