A relatively recent edition to the Daimyo international venue scene, Three Kings has rapidly developed a loyal following with its attention to detail and emphasis on quality. “There’s a lot of similarity between British and Japanese national culture,” says owner and publicans’ publican James. “Japanese people appreciate quality and so we try to share the best of British culture with them. For instance, I happen to think Britain makes the best beers in the world.” Ever-humble, James is a beer importer in his own right, and Three Kings has an unbeatable selection of well-kept British beers, absent the usual flavor jet lag. Wood furnishings, darts and (big-screen) sports complete the pub-culture atmosphere, so even with weekend crowds it’s always a warm and chatty venue for an ale or generous serving of really expert pub food. On quieter nights you might catch British sitcoms on the big screen, or avail yourself of the free wireless. Three Kings has quickly become an institution, and is set to continue doing its bit to raise the bar for local venues.
